What is the mission of this site?
The mission of Picture-Tourist website is to give detailed tourism related photos and information about Australia,
about the Australian states, and Australian cities and famous places. The visitor is able to do a virtual tour
of Australia from home, can "visit" all the famous places through the images on this site. We want to show real photos
about Australia made by real tourists! A lot of additional information assists a potential tourist to plan holiday,
to find hotels, apartments where to stay and find places to visit. Multimedia content will complete the content as:
audio guides, 360 degree panorama images and short films.

How to add images?
Add photos: upload files
You can add your own holiday photos to the content of this site. We encourage you to add images of the places that you have visited
Australia wide like monuments, famous places, tourist attractions, Hotels, etc. If you upload photos you earn also virtual credit.
The images should be at least 640x480 pixels of size. All photos needs to be approved by our staff before can be placed on the site.

Here you can browse your computer's folders and add the photos that you took with your digital camera. You can upload .jpg .gif .png .tiff files!
Large images files (greater than 1MB) can be uploaded, but may be resized afterwards. Only photos taken in Australia and New Zeland can be added.

How to register?
Basic registration
It's a really fast way to become our registered user and start to use the advanced features of this site.
Providing your valid email address and a password, you can add images and earn virtual credits.

When use advanced registration?

If you want to be a really active member and add content to this site often, we need more details
like postal address and contact telephone number. You get more virtual credits too, and you can choose your personalized login name.
This permit you also to become a responsible of one area of our site and add, edit, delete images, text and links.

What is virtual credit?
Virtual credit
When you contribute to the site - add images or make a donation - you earn virtual credit.
Your virtual credit enables you to use the current/future value added services of our site.
Currently you you'll be able to add links or advertising banners or become an area supervisor.
Virtual credit, if not used has an expiry date, that is currently 6 months. If you don't contribute any more
to the site content (add no images or links, no activities) your virtual credit expires in 6 months.

How much can I earn?
If you register we add 5 or 10 virtual credits. For each uploaded image we give you 2 virtual credits.
If you make a basic donation of US $30 we give you 6 virtual credits (for each $10 we give 2 virtual credits).
Donations are contributions for the running costs of this site.

How to use virtual credit?
You can use your virtual credit to add links, banners to our content. To add a link you cost 10 virtual credits.
To add a banner you cost 20 virtual credits. To be able to candidate for an area supervision role you have to have
50 virtual credits.
For example if you have visited a town, have taken some photos, and uploaded 5 you already have 10 virtual credits.
Basic registering gives you another 5, so you'll have 15 virtual credits. Suppose that you stayed in a very nice hotel
in that town and want to give this information to the other visitors of the site. You can do that! With 15 virtual credits
you are allowed to add a link - the web site address of that hotel.
Advertisers use their virtual credits to buy advertising space (place banners on the web pages).

What content can be added?
What content can be added?
You can add images, text and links to this site's content. As this site is about tourism, only relevant content can be added.
For example photos of towns, places, monuments, countryside, seaside, etc. Images of hotels, tourist villages, can be added too.
Texts should reflect the opinion of the tourist who visited a given place about the place. Suggested links should be connected
to the already added images or places and preferably contain a lot of images and tourist information.
All added content have to be approved, and then published. After it published it'll be visible on the web.
Can not be added: pornographic, racist and generally not tourism linked image / text / link. No fake images to earn virtual credit.

How the added content is filtered?
The added content is fist filtered automatically based on it's size and frequency. After that area supervisors
review and approve/not approve the content. The final step is the publishing phase when after a final filtering
the content will placed on the web.

How to add links?
What links can be added?
You can add any relevant link (URL or web address) to the site content. If you think that the information on the linked
web site is tourism related and relative to one of the places/regions you can suggest us to add this link to our relevant
pages. Examples: the web page of the hotel where you stayed and where you was satisfied with the service, the web page of
the museum in a city, an information portal about tourism in a given region. All links have to be approved. You have to have
at least 10 virtual credit to be able to add a link.

The URL text is the text that is visualized as a link on our web pages. Visitors will see this text as a link.
URL type: is the category of the linked web site, choose the one that best describes the web site content. For example for

How to put ads to the pages?
Who should advertise?
You should consider to place ads to our website if you: are tour operator, travel agency, own/manage a Hotel or
are making business in the tourism sector. Your ads will be placed as banners to our web pages. You can target
potential tourists who are browsing our website and are planning their holiday. Banners can be placed to web
pages of a specified city or region or even on our main web pages.
There is also the possibility to place links or images on the web pages. This has a reduced cost,
but you still can be contacted/found by tourists.

What are the fees?
There are two options to choose: 1) get virtual credits and use that credit to place links or banners to our
website; 2) become a standard or gold business partner.
In the first case you should make a donation or add images to our site and will receive 2 virtual credits for
each US $10 donated or image uploaded. After that you can add links for 10 virtual credits or banners for 20
virtual credits. However in this case your ads will not have priority and will be visible for a limited time only.
In addition you can have limited number of banners approved for your business.
In the second case you can add banners for a fixed period of time: for standard members for 3 months, for gold
members for 12 months. You can upload more banners, and your banners will receive priority of visualization.
Gold members will have statistics about banner appearances and click troughs.
Fees: US $60 to become a gold member for 12 months, US $30 to become a standard member for 3 months.
